SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN AKOLA
The issue for women safety went appraised,
after 49 girls from Government school (Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya) accused
their two school teachers for making them sexually harassed. Following the complaint
filed by the school’s principle named Ramavatar Singh against both( Rajan Gajbhiye and Shailesh
Ramteke), the police has made their arrest under section 354(a) if IPC and
section 7 and 8 of protection of Child from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
Earlier, on Tuesday these Girls who
got angry by this act, they went to Maharashtra Women Commission member Asha
Mirge with their complaint. According to them, both, Biology and Chemistry teachers were
harassing them on the excuse of not giving marks in the practical exams.
After the complaint against both got
recorded, Gajbhiye even tried to pressurize one girl so that she withdraws her statement.
This incident has enraged their parents, as they hold a protest in front of the
police station. Only after the protest from their parents, the charges against
both of them have been registered.
Later on, District Collector Arun
Shinde,SDO Sanjay Khadse and Women Commission member Asha Marge made their
visit to the school and assured wards for serious action against them.
